Sexy…seductive….sophisticated… these are
the s-s-sizzling naked realities of the Las Vegas pool scene
this summer. Just when you thought it was safe to go back
into the water, pool clubs offering everything under the sun
have sprung up on the Strip with the goal of tempting all
the senses. From European-style bathing to high-end amenities,
Day Beds, massages, music, signature cocktails and unparalleled
VIP service, three new pool clubs give guests the most sublime
ways to get into the Vegas swim of things.
TAO
Beach at the Venetian
Whatever else you decide to do in Las Vegas, make sure that
you’re prepared to throw in the TAO.
From the people who first brought you a restaurant, nightclub,
lounge and catering facilities named TAO at the Venetian,
now a beach club. Having officially opened on May 5, TAO Beach,
the newest venue to make waves on the Las Vegas Strip, will
even get you where the sun don’t shine, serving up optional
European-style bathing in or out of seven luxury cabanas (for
rental) featuring amenities that include high-definition plasma
screen TV with X-box game consoles, a DVD library, internet,
and customized mini bars. Outside under the rays, life is
a beach and then you lie on comfortable chaise lounges or
day beds while enjoying offerings such as sunglass cleaning,
I-Pod rental, DJ’s spinning club music and a staff of
masseuses.
Though during the day, you can just relax and be immune to
any atmospheric pressures, TAO Beach is very much an extension
of the ambiance and excitement of its sister venue TAO Asian
Bistro and Nightclub. A pre-opening Victoria’s Secret
What is Sexy Event with Heidi Klum and Karolina Kurkova, boasting
celebrities from Tommy Lee to Carey Hart and Kevin Federline,
and TAO co-owner Jason Strauss’ 33rd birthday celebration
with about 2,000 of his closest friends, including Paris and
Nicky Hilton and Kevin Federline, speak volumes to that fact.
“During the week, TAO Beach is a beach club from 10
a.m-sunset seven days a week. for those 21 and older,”
says Strauss. “On Sunday nights, from sunset until 10
p.m. it acts as the rooftop of the nightclub. TAO Beach is
a natural progression of our brand.”
By day, guests can enjoy the 18,000-square-foot Thomas Schoos-designed
venue with Asian elements, furniture and landscaping, which
includes service cuisine from Wolfgang Puck Catering and a
30-foot bar that serves up TAO-tinis and TAO-jitos among other
brews.
On “Sunset Sundays,”, guests can enjoy all the
offered amenities along with the open-air nightclub with a
floating dance floor and fire columns and high-energy house
music from resident DJ’s Reach and Galeano. Plans for
expanding the nightlife are in the works.

Bare
at the Mirage
Let there be Light.
When the innovative group by that name took over Bare this
year, the pool club at the Mirage that opened in 2006, it
brought a new ray of sunshine onto the scene. Known for its
stylish and sophisticated nightlife and restaurant venues
with distinctive service, the Light Group is now shedding
luminance on the Bare facts: tops are optional, the drinks
are bottomless and with Light being synonymous with celebrities,
anything can happen. It’s a venue that’s been
created for guests to dive headfirst into the fun.
“We’ve redone the sound system so that the sound
is more enclosed and we’ve changed the food offerings
from Executive Chef Brian Massie,” explains Alex Acuna,
PR Director for Bare. “The menu is now a playful mix
of small dish items such as Mini Lobster Tacos, Chips and
Guacamole,, Shrimp Lettuce Wraps, sandwiches, salads and more.
Beverage-wise, we have the traditional frozen drinks but we
also offer pitcher service of Strawberry Mojito, Bloody Mary,
Sangria, or Raspberry Lemonade for friends to share. We have
bottle service as well.”
The contemporary 250-seat venue with VIP service offers poolside
chaise lounges and Day Beds and Boat Beds (both for rental)
in a towering palm tree setting enclosed by high wood walls.
Private cabanas with Day Beds can be rented for $350 a say
plus a two-bottle minimum. There are two luxury dipping pools
and DJ-spun music adds a lively ambiance to the experience.
The staff at Bare is attentive, mixing with the clientele
and offering such complimentary services such as chilled cucumbers
to soothe the eyes; iced towels, rolled and chilled in flavored
water; exotic frozen fruit, skewered for easy snacking; icy
popsicles; mini fruit smoothies served in individual shot
glasses, and super-chilled Evian misting bottles..
“We’re also going to be doing entertainment type
of things at Bare” says Acuna. “We’ll have
guest DJ’s spinning the house scene – we had Donald
Glaude for the opening. We’ll also be having parties
and contests as well as hosting local and national events,
fashion shows and the Hawaiian Tropic event.”

Venus
Pool Club at Caesars Palace
The Venus Pool Club at Caesars Palace is a PURE delight. Hip
and sophisticated, this venue owned and operated by PURE Management
Group, which also has PURE Nightclub and the Pussycat Dolls
Lounge at the property under its umbrella, is making a splash
for the second season, having opened Memorial Day last year.
Unlike TAO Beach and Bare, however, Venus has been designed
purely for high-end pool service as opposed to partying. PURE
figures that guests can relax during the day at the pool club,
then head over to its latest hot restaurant at T.I. (Treasure
Island) called the Social House then make it a night at Tangerine
nightclub at T.I. or at PURE.
“We offer European-style bathing and things like frozen
towels, cool sliced cucumbers for the eyes, Evian spritzers,
and poolside massages including body scrubs, facial wraps
and full body tanning lotion massages,” says Greg Jarmolowich,
Director of Operations for PURE. “We also provide spa
service with Qua, the new spa at Caesars. Plus, we have a
dynamic lunch menu and high-end service. Our menu consists
of items such as Ahi Tuna Poke, a Lobster Club Sandwich, a
Turkey Club Sandwich, and other eclectic offerings. We pamper
our guests. We want to keep things meditative and relaxing
for them during the day.”
Along with its standard beverage service, Venus also has poolside
cart service that serves up a variety of Margaritas and Mojitos,
including signature Venus concoctions such as Fresh Muddled
Pineapple Mojitos, Fresh Muddled Blueberry Mojitos and Fresh
Mango Mojitos. Guests can indulge in these while indulging
themselves in the lap of luxury in oversized chaise lounges,
posh cabanas, and air-conditioned bars with flat-screen TV’s.
There are DJ’s spinning music but it is French and Latin
House music, which is very soothing and relaxing and a perfect
complement to the tranquil and soothing environment.
So there you have it – the hippest and hottest new wave
of pool clubs in town. Just remember, if you can’t take
the “heat,” rent a cabana.
